Brooklyn Schaefer
Brooklyn’s Story
I’ve had a few mild concussions from playing sports. However, I never thought that one could change my life forever.
I’ve had PCS for 4 years now and it’s been a journey filled with lots of ups and downs. Living with chronic pain is extremely difficult, both mentally and physically. I even convinced myself I was crazy because nobody else could see my pain and suffering.
I am a completely different person because living with PCS is truly life altering. Although it brought so much darkness and negativity into my life, and it’s easy for me to get caught up in that sometimes, it also did a lot of good. This concussion gave me so much knowledge and it made me a stronger person. I am unlucky to endure the pain, but lucky because it has shaped me into who I am today!
Advice from Brooklyn:
So a piece of advice, when you are going through the worst of times, look for light because it’s always there. Even in the worst of times, things get better and it’s important to never forgot that.
