Concussions/Brain Injuries: 11
Cause: Sports

Iestyn’s Story

Concussions were always a 'nothing' subject when it came to rugby, but as my struggles have become increasingly apparent since forced retirement I have realised how toxic the sport is.

Having had over 10 concussions during my career, the symptoms flare up on a daily basis now. Being told to 'man up' and 'get on with it' is never the option.

Finding people who can relate to the struggles makes you feel less alone in it all and helps amplify the communal voice and stop concussion related struggles from being ignored or silenced.

Concussion Connect has provided me a space to learn more about what is going on inside my brain and body, find the words to express how I am feeling, not feel so alone, and learn about and use different resources! It provides a sense of being understood that has been missing since my accident, even brings a sense of understanding myself. - CC Member
