Sofia’s Story
Sofia’s story has been submitted by her mother.
My daughter Sofia was 6 years old when she was injured from a traumatic brain injury. She was in the car with her Dad. He made a turn and was t-boned and on the right side of the car.
Sofia was admitted to the hospital with bleeding and swelling in the brain. She also sustained a fractured shoulder and pelvic bone. She received stitches behind her ear and face with also cuts and bruises all over her body. Sofia was in an induced coma, ventilator and feeding tube.
Her recovery was a long journey. She needed to learn how to walk talk and potty train all over again. Almost 3 years later and she walks with a limp. She also has short term memory loss. She currently can’t retain any new information.
